Live stream translator for OBS and TikTok LIVE

Speak your own language on stream, and your viewers hear theirs. KONWA translates your voice within about a second and sends it to your streaming app as a microphone; game sound and music don’t pass through it.

You speak English. Viewers hear Spanish.

How it works

  • You speak your language into your usual microphone.
  • KONWA translates it and says it in your viewers’ language, about a second after each phrase.
  • Your streaming app receives that voice as a microphone and sends it out with the rest of the stream.
  • Game sound, music and viewer comments don’t pass through KONWA.

Set it up in OBS Studio

Install KONWA and its virtual microphone

Follow Install on macOS or Install on Windows. The virtual microphone comes with KONWA: KONWA Microphone on macOS, VB-CABLE on Windows.

Start translating in KONWA

Choose the language you speak and the one the others should hear, then press Start.

Add the virtual microphone to OBS

  1. Add an Audio Input Capture source and choose KONWA Microphone or CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) as its Device.
  2. Mute or remove the source for your physical microphone, so only the translation goes out. To send both voices, keep both sources.
  3. Check that the new source moves in the Audio Mixer while you speak.

Don’t also choose the same device under Settings → Audio → Mic/Auxiliary Audio: OBS warns that one device in both places causes an echo.

TikTok LIVE Studio and Streamlabs

In TikTok LIVE Studio, open the audio mixer in the control bar, choose Microphones → Add, and pick the same virtual microphone as the Microphone device. TikTok LIVE Studio runs on both Windows and macOS. In Streamlabs, set the microphone in its audio settings. Keep monitoring on your headphones, and record a short test before going live to check that what goes out is the translation.

Use headphones. On speakers, the microphone picks up the translated voice and the other side, and KONWA translates them as if you had said them.

Product names and prices, said right

Selling live, a product name or a price said wrong costs a sale. Write your terms under Settings → Glossaries in KONWA and it translates them your way every time, or copy the Live commerce preset and edit it.
