Agreement to These Terms

These terms are an agreement between you and us, SparkLight, the independent studio that makes and runs KONWA. Using KONWA means accepting them. If you do not accept them, do not use it.

These terms are written in English and may be translated. Where a translation differs from the English, the English version governs.

Plans and time packs are sold to you by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record; at checkout you also accept its buyer terms. The checkout, the billing portal and invoices show KONWA.

KONWA is in public beta. Features described on this site may change.

The Service

KONWA translates what you say, as you say it, and speaks the translation in the apps you already use. With Listen Translation on, it also captions what the other side says, translated, for you to read.

Machine translation makes mistakes. KONWA is not a certified, legal or medical translation service, and it should not be relied on where an error would be costly or dangerous.

Your Account

One account serves both the website and the desktop app, and it is yours alone. Keep access to your email address: anyone who receives the sign-in code can sign in.

The free trial is ten minutes, once; whatever is left of it ends when you subscribe. Creating further accounts to take it again is not allowed.

Plans and Billing

Three plans grant translation time each month:

• Lite, $9.90 a month: 360 minutes of translation. Voice cloning is not included.
• Plus, $29.90 a month: 1,080 minutes of translation, with voice cloning included.
• Pro, $59.90 a month: 2,160 minutes of translation, with voice cloning included. The same features as Plus, with more time.
• Paying yearly: ten monthly payments for twelve months of service — $99, $299 or $599 a year. Minutes are still granted monthly.
• Payment: All prices are in US dollars. Dodo Payments, as merchant of record, takes the payment, charges any applicable tax (shown at checkout) and issues the invoice. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it.
• A failed payment: your account page asks you to update the payment method. Until a charge succeeds the plan’s monthly minutes are paused; time packs and any gift time still work.
• Changes to prices and plans: we may change prices, or what a plan includes, such as its minutes or how many cloned voices it keeps. A change in your favour applies to everyone as soon as we can. A change against you applies to new subscriptions at once; an existing subscription keeps what it has for the period you have paid for, and we will tell you by email and on your account page at least 30 days before the change applies to it, so you can change plan or cancel first.

How Translation Time Is Counted

Time counts from when you start translation until you stop it. Quiet moments count too, and speaking a lot does not cost more.

Listen Translation adds no time: a session is counted once, whether or not you listen.

A plan grants its minutes each month. They do not roll over: whatever is unused when the month refreshes is gone.

Running out stops translation. Nothing is ever bought for you automatically.

Time Packs

A time pack adds 600 minutes for $19.90 as a single payment, not a subscription. You can buy one whenever you need it, as often as you need it.

Pack minutes go into one extra-time balance. Every purchase extends that whole balance to 90 days from that purchase. Your monthly minutes are always used first, and extra time only once they run out.

Cancellation and Refunds

You can cancel a subscription at any time. It keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for, and it is not renewed. Cancelling does not refund the period you are in.

If something goes wrong on our side — you were charged twice, or the service was unusable — write to support@konwa.live and we will put it right.

Time packs are consumable: once minutes from a pack have been used, that part is not refundable. An unused pack can be refunded within 14 days of purchase.

Refunds are paid by Dodo Payments to the original payment method, and the time they paid for is taken back.

Voice Cloning

Plus and Pro let you create a voice from a short recording, so that you still sound like yourself in another language.

Only use your own voice; you confirm this when you upload. A cloned voice is not a way to sound like someone else.

Plus keeps up to 5 voices and Pro up to 10, with at most 10 created in any 30 days. If your plan ends or moves to Lite, your voices are kept but cannot be used; they work again when you subscribe to Plus or Pro. A deleted voice cannot be restored.

We may remove a voice, or close an account, where we have good reason to believe a voice was created without permission.

Acceptable Use

When using KONWA, do not:

• Break the law: you are responsible for having the right to translate the conversation you are in. Rules about telling other people, and about recording, differ from place to place.
• Impersonate anyone: do not use a translated or cloned voice to mislead people about who is speaking.
• Resell or share access: an account is for one person, and access to KONWA is not yours to resell.
• Work around limits: do not evade the translation time your plan grants, or the measures that protect the service.

Availability and Changes

We may change, interrupt or withdraw parts of KONWA. Where a change affects what you have paid for, we will tell you in advance.

The services KONWA depends on can fail, and translation may be unavailable or wrong. We do not promise that it is always available or always accurate.

Disclaimers and Liability

KONWA is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Ending This Agreement

You may stop using KONWA and close your account at any time.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we must do so by law. If we close yours without cause, we will refund the unused part of what you have paid.
